ADMINISTRATOR'S responsibilities include managing department heads, overseeing performance of all staff, meeting all regulatory requirements, P&L performance, and other duties as assigned.

Comfort Keepers is seeking a dedicated, experienced External Care Coordinator (ECC) for our Granger, South Bend office. At Comfort Keepers, we provide uplifting in-home care for seniors and older adults who require a helping hand, a supportive companion, and day-to-day assistance in their home. The ECC is responsible for providing engaged, extraordinary service to Seniors in the South Bend and surrounding area, while achieving consistent growth for our office. As an External Care Coordinator (ECC) you will have the opportunity to support our caregivers in delivering one-on-one care that enhances quality of life of our clients and their families. 

Job Summary:

The External Care Coordinator (ECC) is responsible for managing the client experience from referral to continuity of care. The role of the ECC begins in the field, where they assist with developing and maintaining relationships with referral sources such as assisted/independent living facilities, hospice providers, geriatric care managers, medical specialist, caregiver resources, and other senior-related referral sources. Next, the ECC will interact with prospective clients by taking referral calls, educating prospective clients on our services, and scheduling in-home visits. Once the client has joined Comfort Keepers, the ECC will be responsible for managing the uninterrupted care of the client through the organization of family resources and other methods, such as community providers, insurance companies, case managers and other third-party payors. Finally, the ECC will work directly with the Internal Care Coordinator (ICC) to ensure that client’s shifts and hours are matched with caregiver qualifications to ensure a platinum experience for our clients.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 2 years of related experience.

  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and outstanding people management skills.

  • Strong relationship-building skills with people from diverse and varied backgrounds and education levels. 

  • Exceptional customer service skills and written / verbal communication.

  • A reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a background check (including motor vehicle records check).

  • Previous sales experience is a plus.

Become a SHIP Volunteer

SHIP is a satisfying volunteer opportunity for hundreds of people across Indiana.

SHIP provides services through many channels: seminars, local community training, one-on-one counseling, public speaking, publications, videos and more. Volunteers are the key to the program’s success.

SHIP volunteers are called on to assist with questions on Medicare, Medicare supplements, Medicaid, employer benefit plans, managed care plans, long-term care, help pay for prescriptions and more.

Counseling can include an analysis of insurance needs, side-by-side policy comparisons, help with filing claims, and appeals or filling out applications for assistance.

To be an active SHIP volunteer you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Complete a 24-30 hour Initial Training

  • Want to help people with Medicare in his/her community

  • Attend regular local in-service training sessions (usually two half-day sessions per year)

  • Complete at least 9 Client Contact forms per month

  • NOT be affiliated with  (i.e., employed by, or in a position to sell) any insurance product, agency, company or service

  • Make a minimum one-year commitment

  • Be willing to assure complete confidentiality to every client

  • Complete required paperwork

  • Enjoy meeting new people and helping others
