Elaborate stories that never happened, visions that are not there, genuine beliefs that are false... Confabulations, hallucinations, and delusions are common in dementia but how do we deal with these challenging behaviors? This session will help professionals understand how to accept these behaviors through respect and sensitivity, and will identify approaches that can be helpful in day-to day practice. After attending this course participants will be able to: - Introduce and identify confabulation, hallucinations, and delusions - Give examples of symptoms and challenges individuals face when these behaviors occur. - Give examples of how you can create, and execute non-pharmacological approaches that are person centered, and based upon a person's life history. - Participants will review a case study and practice creating non-pharmacological approaches. Individuals needing CE credits for Health Facility Administrator, or Social Work will be required to complete a competency quiz and evaluation before the certificate can be issued. Individuals have (1) week- April 1, 2021 to complete both to receive full credit.
